Electronic Diversity Visa (EDV) Interview With Question
Today I'm going to go over the day of interview Yes, that day has finally arrived. Let's go over how to dress like other type of visa interviews. Business casual dresses not necessary but I highly recommend that you dress business casual to show that you are very serious and a professional.
My interview was at 11:00 in the morning but I arrived an hour earlier. I was asked to stay across the street until my interview time at 10:00 AM. Then I went to the gate and guard asked me for my passport and copy of second letter. There were about 20 people ahead of me waiting for their interview. They asked me to take out the yellow envelope and cash for visa application fee, at the security gate. They verified my passport and second letter. I took all the required documents out of the bag. They kept the envelope and my back after the security check.

Then I was sent to an open area and there were about 20 people waiting. After about 25 minutes, it was my turn to enter a part of the building to pay fee and hand over all documents. After that, they gave me a token. I went to a window to pay fee. I handed my passport and $330 cash and the lady gave me a receipt.
Then I went back to the desk where they handed me a token earlier lady at the desk separated my original and copies of the documents and two photos. She asked me whether I had a sponsor letter and that made me very nervous. I didn't know what to say because I didn't have a sponsor letter. Luckily, there was an another staff standing by and he corrected her saying sponsor letter is not required for Electronic Diversity Visa (EDV) Applicants. She asked if I knew my us address and I provided her that information. Next they took my fingerprints and photos.
Then I handed all my documents to them later went to a waiting room for my interview and there were about 40 people ahead of me. I couldn't believe it, here were five interviewing officers and some interview where short and some were longer than half an hour I had noticed Electronic Diversity Visa (EDV) interviews were generally sorter than other after waiting two long hours it was finally my turn.
Interviewer called me with my token number and my number was also displayed at the window. There was a glass between us and little opening to exchange documents. He was standing and going through my document. There wasn't a chair and I was standing too. First thing he said was, hello sir, how are you? I was very nervous but replied, I'm fine, thank you, and how about yourself? He asked if I was comfortable answering in my native languages or prefer my interview in English. I said, English. He told me that the interview is about to start and ask whether I knew providing false information could be the reason for visa denial. I said yes.
First question he asked was, have I visited any countries outside of Nepal? I replied, no. Second person he asked was, are you married? I replied, no. Third and last question was, how old are you? I answered, and then quickly he said, thank you, sir Your Visa has been approved. I felt relieved and static interview lasted less than two minutes and I could not believe it. I was very happy he handed me a small card with instruction to fill out an online form to collect my visa packets. He returned all my original documents and kept copies with them. Then I use my token to retrieve my bag and I was out the door Happy and excited and looking forward to my bright future in the United States.
